Blogmas Day 21: Merry and Bright

Our rustic wooden elephant toy, dressed for Christmas in a red bow

Another late post today after another busy day! Our tree trouble from earlier this weekend was sorted out, and the Douglas Fir my father brought home is perhaps our most beautiful tree yet. It's also our first-ever fresh cut tree, and I'm looking forward to having extra time in the coming weeks to enjoy it. We put most of our ornaments on the tree tonight and we'll complete our trimming tomorrow in the daylight, when we add bows and tiny balls to the delicate outer branches.

I also finally decorated the front of our house, putting the swag of fresh greens on the door, "planting" branches of fresh holly in pots on our steps, and trimming our decorative candle lanterns with sprigs of holly and tartan ribbon. The extra little touches of the holly and the decorations on the lanterns really finish the look, and brighten up the bare garden.

Unfortunately I have no photos of any of this to share yet, and the weather for the last few days of Blogmas looks like it will be rainy, but fingers crossed that I'll be able to share some well-lit pictures before this project ends!
